After receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees in Psychology and Physiology from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Dr. Nothmann attended medical school at St. Georges University in Grenada. He completed his internship year of Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Connecticut. Subsequently, he graduated from Emergency Medicine residency training in a UCSF affiliated program at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA. He moved to Napa in 2002 and began working in the Emergency Department at Queen of the Valley Medical Center the following year. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians. His leadership positions at Queen of the Valley Medical Center include his current role as Base Station Medical Director and previously he served as Chief of Staff, Emergency Department Medical Director, and Chairman of Peer Review. He also serves as the medical director for multiple Napa County EMS agencies including the Napa Valley College EMS programs, City of Napa Fire Department, AMR Ambulance Napa County, and the American Canyon Fire Department. Outside of his contribution to Emergency Medicine, Dr. Nothmann enjoys traveling, music, and gardening.
